Vegan Food of Calgary!

Last weekend we took a weekend trip up to Calgary Alberta and found some amazing vegan food! Although veganism is still slowly gaining popularity, it is growing at such a rapid rate in many bigger cities in Alberta. Here I am going to share with you only some of the MANY MORE vegan food joints you should hit up in Calgary. Some of these places are not entirely vegan but with some vegan options on their menu, while some are completely vegan friendly restaurants. I will leave their website links below for more information!

The first place we ate at on our food journey was The Coup in downtown Calgary. The location is on 17 Avenue, an upbeat, popular street of downtown with tons of businesses and restaurants. I have been to this restaurant many times before and their eccentric, healthy, delicious vegan food is absolutely to die for! All of their meals are vegetarian and most are vegan, but some may need to be modified in order to be vegan. Just make sure you double-check when you order. Their ingredients are high-quality, fresh, and seasonal which make their dishes full of flavour. They use such a variety of fresh produce and creativity design their dishes, whether you want breakfast, lunch or dinner! They also have incredible vegan cocktails, lattes, and desserts. They have vegan cheese, mayo, and meat substitutes that can be added to any dish. I have heard they just released a new menu....so if I were you, I would check it out ASAP! The three dishes below were only a few of the many delicious items on their menu.

The second all-vegan restaurant we ate at was called Hearts Choices Cafe Market. As you can see from the photos, the food was absolutely incredible. If you want hearty, comfort food that isn't filled with animal products, this is your GO-TO place! We first went there for dinner and since it was so good, we HAD to come back for their specialty brunch menu only available on Saturdays and Sundays. They have VEGAN french toast, eggs benedict, and chicken and waffles......like WHAT?! They also have another location called Hearts Choices Thai, as well as a vegan food truck! The staff are incredibly friendly and the food is nothing short of delicious. They sell frozen vegan meats, sauces, and many other products to take home. If you took a non-vegan to this restaurant, I GUARANTEE they would not know the difference!

The ice cream shop Made by Marcus on 17th ave in Calgary has incredible vegan options. The two you see above are Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Salted Caramel Cashew Date! They are constantly changing their flavours so they have different vegan options all-year round! The craziest part about these ice creams was that we completely forgot they contained no dairy. It was incredibly creamy, decadent, and satisfying without consuming animal products!
